Roll Tune Up

One on one instruction helps dust off the winter cobwebs & helps bombproof your roll. Course will be taught in the Paddlefest Pool (The Pool is not heated so thermal layers are strongly recommended)

Intro Clinic

Designed for the novice or 1st time kayaker.
The Beginner kayaking instruction clinic provides students a general overview of basic skills and is perfect for a student with no experience or less than five days in a kayak. In addition, the course provides excellent opportunities for people without moving water experience or for those who have had little or no formal training. Many students have also found the Beginner clinic to be a very effective refresher if it has been a while since you last paddled.

Kid’s Clinic

Join RMOC for an introduction to kayaking clinic for kids.

Women’s-Paddling Clinic

Learn from some of paddling’s top female athletes.
Ladies, do you want to learn from and paddle with other women? Join this clinic for a fun and educational river run. Fine tune maneuvers such as, eddy turns, efficiency, ferries and eddy hopping.

Stroke Clinic

Brush up your strokes! This clinic is sure to make your strokes fluid as the river. Good strokes will give you great performance. Choose from either the river stroke clinic (Saturday) or a pond stroke clinic (Sunday). Instructors John Grace-Team Logic.

Intro to Playboating

Intro to playboating increases your grins by developing a solid foundation of playboating skills. We focus on front and back surfing as well as 360-degree flat spins. We also highlight eddy line squirts and go over some introductory cartwheel techniques.

Basic Safety and Rescue

Join Nick Wigston of the Downstream Edge for these super informative rescue courses. Nick will be the primary instructor and will have other athletes helping out for each course.

The Downstream Edge Beginner safety course is designed for class 2-3 paddlers looking to develop a foundation of river safety from the beginning. You will learn about proper river running strategies to help your group avoid swims and rescue situations. Defensive and aggressive whitewater swimming will be taught and practiced as well as self rescue techniques. Your group will get hands on river scouting and water reading training from our expert instructors as well as practice setting safety and rescuing swimmers from a boat and from shore. This class is a must for aspiring whitewater paddlers.

Advanced Safety and Rescue

Join Nick Wigston of the Downstream Edge for these super informative rescue courses. Nick will be the primary instructor and will have other athletes helping out for each course.

Our ACA advanced swiftwater rescue class is for intermediate to advanced whitewater kayakers. This class focuses on avoiding rescue situations and producing leaders who can safely and efficiently lead a rescue and save lives. Your group will learn and practice advanced river running strategies and learn to communicate on the river using hand signals and proper scouting techniques. We will practice whitewater swimming in difficult currents to practice and test your ability to effectively self rescue in the event of a swim. Setting safety and effective throw rope rescue will become natural for your group and will enhance your efficiency at running rivers. Our instructors will teach you from experience how to rescue pinned boats and gear as well as saving your friends when they are in trouble. The Downstream Edge advanced swiftwater rescue class will give you the most on-water training of any SWR class in Colorado. Say good-bye to boring dry-land instruction and learn from realistic on water scenarios designed to develop your groups skills in an intense rescue situation.

ACA Instructor Certification Course

Instructor Development Workshop and Instructor Certification Exam (IDW/ICE)
This course will cover and progress through flat water, moving water, and onto whitewater certification. An instructor candidate may be certified in any or all of these levels depending on their readiness or desire to teach any of the three categories of kayak instruction. At each level, the student must demonstrate proficiency in Teaching Skills, Technical Knowledge and Paddling Skills. Instructor candidates are expected to paddle with grace, control, mental tranquility, and demonstration quality. The course covers different teaching styles, the latest stroke mechanics, hull designs, materials and equipment. Learn by example the basics of being a good safety kayaker and at the end of it all, you’ll leave with the basic knowledge of how to instruct.
