American Whitewater Will Be At PaddleFest Again This Year
AW will be at P-Fest again this year to give paddlers and river enthusiasts opportunities to learn about the threats facing Colorado’s iconic rivers, and what paddlers can do to protect them. Visit the AW booth to learn more about American Whitewater, the work AW is doing in Colorado and the Southern Rockies, ask questions of AW staff and volunteers, or just hang-out with good people. New this year, AW will be offering classroom and on-water training in monitoring water quality, and what to do if your favorite backyard run is making you sick! We will also be raffling off lot’s off great gear, including a new kayak from Liquid Logic, as part of our membership drive at this years event!
AW is also pleased to be able to present “The Last Descent” – from Ebb and Flow Productions. TLD premiered in Jan 2009 at the Wild and Scenic Film Fest in California, and won the Peoples Choice Award! This will be the first time TLD has been screened in Colorado! The film follows Scott Ligare, Charlie Center, and Katie Scott to rivers in the far corners of the globe, documenting the devastation that large-scale dam building has on some amazing rivers. Copies of The Last Descent will be available for purchase at the AW booth, with 100% of proceeds going to support AW’s fight to protect Colorado rivers from similar devastation.
‘Paddle It Forward’ with Dagger and Wave Sport at Paddle Fest 2010
Ready for an upgrade? Been thinking about what to do with that older model kayak in the garage? Now is the time to make the move. Paddle Fest and CKS are participating in the national “Paddle It Forward” program. In this program, everyone wins!
At Paddle Fest 2010, if you donate your used, but seaworthy, hard shell kayak to our charity, the Arkansas River Trust, CKS will give you an immediate 10-percent off the price of a new kayak from Wave Sport or Dagger. But the savings don’t end there. A manufacturer’s mail-in rebate will garner an additional 10-percent off the net price.
Ultimately, you receive nearly 20-percent off the cost of a new boat; and a worthy charity will benefit from your generous donation. By targeting our local outdoor and environmental organizations, those in our community who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to paddle will experience the joy and fun of being on the water.
“‘This program engages the whole paddling community in supporting local charities and schools that may otherwise be seeing a dip in donations right now. It offers us a unique opportunity to support the re-use of boats and directly influence the growth of the sport at the local level. We’re very excited for the community-wide charitable potential; and we also believe consumers will benefit.”

Bring your ideas and artwork to paddle fest and see what Tom can do to get it on a custom helmet. This takes 3-5 weeks once artwork is submitted.
Team Pyranha is coming in hot as usual. This Paddle Fest is a great time to come test drive Pyranha’s new Molan and Burn.
Nick Wigston and the rest of the Downstream Edge river safety crew will be hosting safety and rescue courses this year at Paddle Fest. They will be offering a course for beginners on Saturday and a more advanced course on Sunday. The clinics will cover basic river safety and avoiding situations, self rescue, gear rescue, and swimmer rescue. This is a great way to prepare yourself and your paddling crew for the 2010 kayaking season.

Deep tissue massage offered to relieve sore muscles at P Fest
I graduated from Crestone Healing Arts Center three years ago. Since then I have been taking multiple deep tissue work shops. I combine a mixture of Chinese meridian work with muscle manipulation. This combination gives a balance of energetic balancing of your meridians along with a release of tension on specific muscles. Balancing meridians as well as releasing tension allows for a longer lasting fix of the problem. I have been doing a lot of work with shoulder and neck problems over the last couple of years, along with releasing the low back area. I have developed a really good chair kata to quickly release tension in the neck and shoulder area. I feel this will be a good mix with kayakers. I look forward to working with the kayak community.
Thanks
Jeff Yates
